White Florida Man Born in a Transracial Community Claims He Now a Filipino

Do you sometimes feel like you like music or food from a different culture than what you’ve grown up with? There are times when we are more comfortable with music other than our own, and it is something normal. But for this Florida man, he believes that he is actually a Filipino, and not a white man born in Florida.

‘Transracial’ man born white feels like he is Filipino.

The man, formerly known as Adam, lives in Florida and now goes by the name Ja Du after spending years studying Filipino food, music, and culture. He ultimately fell in love with everything Filipino, that he now considers himself a ‘transracial’ Filipino man. He claims that when he indulges in Filipino culture, he “feels like he’s in his own skin.”

“I’d watch The History Channel sometimes for hours you know whenever it came to that and you know nothing else intrigued me more but things about Filipino culture,” Ja Du said of his upbringing.

While others would laugh at Ja Du, a licensed psychologist said that if someone really feels that way about themselves and they acknowledge it, “the happier you can be” with yourself.

“If someone feels that they feel at home with a certain religion, a certain race, a certain culture, I think that if that’s who they really feel inside, life is about finding out who you are,” Dr. Stacey Scheckner said. “The more knowledge you have of yourself, the happier you can be.”

“If that’s who they are, and they want to celebrate it and enjoy it, then you have to think what harm is it doing? All they want to do is throw themselves into that culture and celebrate it,” the psychologist told WTSP.
